Doug Starchman was born in Chandler, Arizona on Williams Air Force Base. Being an ‘Air Force Brat’, Doug has lived in Arizona, England, California and Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School before beginning college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. After two years at Southwestern and a summer working for the OSU State Cotton Extension Entomologist in Altus, Doug transferred to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater to begin a degree in Entomology (The Study of Insects).
He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Entomology in 1995. While doing his undergraduate work, Doug worked for the OSU Extension Service located on the campus of OSU in Stillwater. There he performed all sorts of entomological related duties, from customer service and data collection to insect sampling and assisting with the insect zoo.
In addition to his OSU obligations, Doug worked for a local pest control company as the night service technician and summer help. After completing his BS degree, Doug went on to pursue a Master’s Degree at OSU. While in graduate school, he furthered his studies in Entomology while performing tick research in the department’s Immunoparasitology lab. While continuing his part time pest control job, Doug began to gravitate toward a full time career in the Pest Control Industry.
Doug spends his free time with his friends and family. His hobbies include traveling, gardening, attending concerts and hiking (when he can get away). Doug is a member of First United Methodist Church of Stillwater, The Stillwater Home Builder’s Association, and is an alumnus of Leadership Stillwater Class XXII. He is an active Rotarian for The Stillwater Frontier Rotary Club.
